birth stories

I love birth stories. Every woman's journey is unique and storytelling connects us as we feel each woman's fears, frustrations, joys and triumphs.

Years ago, by the time it was a maiden's turn to travel the journey to motherhood she would have already been at the births of her aunts, mother, sisters and friends. She would have witnessed the awesome power of birth and the strength and surrender of those who had gone before her. When it was her turn, she would know that she could trust her body to birth her baby, just as it knew how to grow it .

No so these days. Birth is no longer treated as a social event but as a medical event. The soap operas and media portray only the dramatic. A woman joyously catching her own baby in a quiet and darkened room surrounded by loved ones, perhaps with her midwife/doctor observing from the sidelines just doesn't sell.

So here are some stories and resources to balance out the soap opera drama and perhaps empower and inspire you to trust in yourself, your body and in birth.

If you would like to share your story, I would love that so please contact me
