midwiferyWhile I am in the process of updating my website, you can read a good description about what private midwifery is HERE. Below you will find my philosophy and information on my services. my philosophyWelcoming a child into the world is one of the most amazing and transformative experiences of a woman’s life. This normal, healthy process unfolds best when a woman is well nourished and supported and is offered care that doesn’t separate her physical health from her mental and emotional experience of this transformative time. Developing a trusting relationship with a known carer through pregnancy who can provide holistic, one-to-one care through labour, birth and early parenting leads to healthier & happier mother’s, babies and families. From the beginning of pregnancy women have a myriad of choices to make. I offer my knowledge and clinical skills to assist women in making informed decisions for themselves and their family based on their own values, beliefs and experiences about what is right for them. I offer care to women wherever they choose to birth. For women and babies requiring specialist medical care during pregnancy and birth I support couples and liaise with medical staff to help create a special experience. servicesI work as a midwife as part of Midwives@Sydney and Beyond which is a group of six midwives providing care to women in the community and supporting them to birth at the venue of their choice. Antenatal & Postnatal Care If you have a private Obstetrician or are planning to birth in a public hospital and do not want full private midwifery care, you may be able to have some of your antenatal appointments at my clinic in collaboration with your other care providers. This might be beneficial if: - You would like more in-depth discussion and holistic midwifery care (appointments are 1hr)
- You would like continuity of antenatal care (seeing the same the midwife each time)
- You would like the same midwife to care for you during your pregnancy and visit you at home after the birth
- It is difficult to travel to your hospital antenatal appointments
I can also offer postnatal care in your home for up to 6 weeks. To discuss if you are eligible for this care please contact me. |
